Sequential saphenous vein coronary bypass graft with patency of 22 years.

چکیده
A76-year-old woman who had a coronary artery bypass using a sequential saphenous vein graft to the diagonal branch and the left anterior descending artery (LAD) remained free of chest pain for 22 years. She was recently diagnosed with critical aortic valve stenosis. Cardiac catheterization showed the sequential saphenous vein graft was patent. The size of the graft was remodeled according to the volume of blood flow. The distal part of the graft, from the anastomosis of the diagonal branch to the LAD, carries blood to the LAD only. The proximal part of the graft, from the aorta to the diagonal branch, carries blood to both the diagonal branch and the LAD. Consequently, the diameter of the graft in the proximal part is larger than in the distal part (Figure).

Thirty-year patency of a coronary sequential venous bypass graft.
BACKGROUND The optimal conduit of second choice in surgical coronary revascularization remains a matter of debate. Radial artery grafts are believed to have a better patency rate than the saphenous vein grafts, although no conclusive results have been reported. This report describes the late result of a coronary revascularization with sequential venous bypass performed 30 years earlier. METHO...
متن کاملLong-term patency of sequential and individual saphenous vein coronary bypass grafts.
OBJECTIVES The long-term patency rates for individual and sequential saphenous vein grafts (SVG) as coronary bypass conduits are angiographically compared; the impact of native coronary vessel characteristics is investigated. METHODS A total of 875 distal coronary anastomoses on 500 SVGs were assessed in 430 patients at an average of 5.8+/-3 years after a coronary revascularization procedure....
متن کاملRadial artery versus saphenous vein patency randomized trial: five-year angiographic follow-up.
BACKGROUND Graft patency is a fundamental predictor of long-term survival after coronary artery bypass surgery. Left and right internal thoracic artery (arterial) graft patency has been shown to be superior to that of saphenous vein grafts. More recently, the radial artery has been used as an aortocoronary graft, but little is known about the midterm and long-term patency of this conduit. We pe...
متن کاملFemoro-popliteal bypass above knee with saphenous vein vs synthetic graft.
There is still debate whether sintethic graft (polytetrafluoroethylene or Dacron) is equivalent to vein as bypass graft material for the above-knee femoropopliteal bypass. Therefore, we performed prospective randomized trial to compare vein with polytetrafluoroethylene/dacron for femoropopliteal bypasses with the distal anastomosis above the knee. Between January 2000 and June 2003, 121 femorop...
